The most mind blowing thing about this is it’s from the Babylon Bee. That’s right the Babylon Bee actually made an honest to goodness funny.

If I have to pass a yearly exam to prove that I am not in some form of cognitive decline just to have the same rule apply to every other person, including politicians, then I’m all for it. Same goes for driver’s licenses. My grandmother, who is 91, just renewed last year. She told me over the phone, “This will probably be the last time I ever have to do that,” and I just thought, “I sure fucking hope so.” I’m not against older people doing what they want to do, but reality and safety have to come into play at some point. People break down as they age. I’m dealing with it now, and I will continue as I get older. I have no illusions about it. The feeling that you are entitled to whatever you want regardless of the safety of others is something that we as humans need to drop, or it’s gonna be the end of us, as evidenced by the current state of politics.

Driving a commercial vehicle or flying a plane are tested because you could kill many innocent people if you mess up.

Presidents can annihilate humanity, and the last one either couldn’t understand he lost, or just lied about it.

Am am fully in agreement with you. However, in this society, some people will attempt to continue to do the same things they used to because they have no other choice. A lot of people (in the US at least) don’t have a retirement plan whatsoever and social security alone is nothing to live on for a decent life.

Yesterday while feeling especially old I said to my co-workers “I don’t want to be 20 again. I just want to feel like it.”

20 year old me was an idiot.

I’m a big fan of ageism.

      Politics and vehicles.

Get 'em out of there, don’t risk it.

What about ancient voters though. They vote for yesterdays politics to shape a world they won’t have to live in anymore. Voting rights should also be based on basic cognitive functionality

“In the end, we decided the benefits were worth it.” “The benefits?” “Oh you know: healthcare, affordable wages, plenty of vacation…”

What do you even want, Senate literally means assembly of old men, so there you go. The original Senate (ancient Roman) probably had a minimum age of 60 restriction and mandatory balls exam.

In the Roman Empire, average life expectancy at birth was only 25 years. If you lived through childhood, then you could expect to live until around 50. Less than 10% of the population made it past 55, compared to 87% of US males living past 55 as of 2020. (source1, source2)
