I’ve recently heard that Tumblr wants to join the #Fediverse, This will be so cool as it would bring so much more content and prove to the wider world that this might be the way to go for social media.
That would be nice indeed. I don’t even know what’s still there nowadays.
Unfortunately, they announced this quite a while ago and haven’t said anything since. I wouldn’t be surprised if they just forget they ever said anything and move on.
@Eddie I believe they did mention that they wanted to focus on the influx of users so hopefully they get on it pretty soon.
How big is their userbase? I presume it’s far smaller than Instagram’s, so there’s going to be less concern with having a sudden influx of users than with Meta’s Threads.
@GlennMagusHarvey 572 Million Blogs are on Tumblr… So yeah not a bad number to move across. Also people used to use Tumblr to post often and if they come to the Fediverse and make it as easy to sign up as they currently are I would suspect that people will go back to Tumblr for simplicity sake.
