I used to think people who downloaded videos on YouTube, forum posts with guides or useful info and other data were weird.

    They were right.

With archive.org under threat some of it will be gone for good unfortunately. Save what you can when you can it might not be there later.

I am that weirdo data hoarder/curator. I have been saving content, text, images, art, audio, videos, games, tutorials, info and all kinds of stuff for a few years, just before the real degradation of web began around 2016. I just save videos instead of streaming them. And the fun part is you do not need that much storage space, just buy a good 4 TB HDD with an enclosure. Extra if you want backup copy.

I use general, text, audio, video, photo et al compression of all kinds, since I am an expert on that too, allowing me to make best use of storage space.

There was one friend of mine, who has their own intranet of over 100 TB. Fun stuff.
