Hey folks!
So far, I have been the sole admin at lemm.ee. Most reports I receive don’t really require any action from me - they are handled directly by moderators of the communities the reports originate from. Still, there is a chance that any reported post might contain content which would need to be purged from lemm.ee servers, so even reports that don’t need any action should still be checked by an admin.
The volume of incoming issues has been quite manageable so far, but I have noticed a steady increase in daily reports lately. Additionally, there is nobody covering the report queue while I am sleeping or otherwise unable to access my computer.
I would like to ensure that there is a bit more redundancy in the admin team, so I am looking to potentially add one or two admins. Specifically, I am looking for somebody who would be willing to share the following responsibilities (copied from our administration policy):
Admins
- Ensure that there are no communities on lemm.ee which break lemm.ee rules
- Ban lemm.ee users who break our rules on other instances
- Ban users who consistently break rules across multiple communities
- Purge illegal content from lemm.ee
Note: I am not looking for help with system administration work at this time, this is strictly about administration within Lemmy itself.
Please be aware that being an admin is unfortunately quite a thankless job - if you’re doing your job well, then most people won’t even realize you’re doing anything. OTOH, if you make mistakes, there will likely be many users calling you out in public. The main motivation for joining the admin team would need to be a desire to help build and maintain this instance as a great home for yourself and others.

- On a typical day, during what hours are you active on lemm.ee (with timezone info)
- Do you have any previous experience with moderation/administration
- Are you in agreement with the current state of the lemm.ee administration policy
I’d be down to help. I have no mod experience outside of the community I created over here. I’m typically active between 09:00~12:00 and 21:00~00:00. Brasilia timezone UTC -3. I agree with the administration policy.

I don’t want to do admin stuff, but I’d be happy to work on creating admin/mod tools. I just need a better understanding of what things you guys need in order to start nailing down some requirements.
I would be interested. I’m active between 1800-2100 (GMT). I have no previous mod experience but I do in enforcing rules. I agree with the current policy. If I am not active enough I understand. Good luck with your search.

Hey buddy! I’d be glad to pitch in to what extent I can. I’m active from 8am-5pm CST generally, work in IT so I’m near a computer most of the time. I’ve moderated some discord servers but did not mod for any subreddits. I agree with the moderation policy, tis why I’m still on this instance.
I’ll volunteer to help out. I’m online usually from 10 am to 5 pm Eastern plus lots of other times in the evening. I agree with the rules and policies. I currently moderate 10 subs on reddit and used to moderate 3 larger ones but resigned due to the API changes

There are a couple of reasons:
- Most importantly, all content posted by lemm.ee users is always hosted on our servers. Even if you’re posting on another instance. The deal is that if you use our servers, you have to follow our rules.
- Our rules are designed to keep our content civil and acceptable for a wide range of other instances. If we enforce these rules properly, then other instances are far less likely to feel like they need to defederate from us.
But you aren’t “in” that other instance. You’re basically always tagged with lemm.ee everywhere you post.
It’s like you are committing a crime on that “planet,” and seeking an asylum to wherever at you’re right now.
