I alternate between top day and scaled for subscribed. While browsing “all” I use top day.
Eternity was my favourite and I still use it sometimes, but now I’m mostly using boost.
““That’s not fair, you know. If we knew when we were going to die, people would lead better lives.” IF PEOPLE KNEW WHEN THEY WERE GOING TO DIE, I THINK THEY PROBABLY WOULDN’T LIVE AT ALL.”
From Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett.
“LORD, WHAT CAN THE HARVEST HOPE FOR, IF NOT FOR THE CARE OF THE REAPER MAN?”
From Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett.
Digital. I’ve run out of space for storing physical books.
Place a green tea bag in a mug of hot water. Cover with a plate and leave it for two minutes. Remove the tea bag. Done.
It’s UI is my favourite amongst the apps I’ve tried out
That was an interesting twist
I just dump them into the washing machine. So I guess I’m just thinking that the machine is doing it not me!
I change my socks and give them for washing after every use. It’s kinda necessary as I sweat a lot.
Here’s the quote, slightly longer:
"THANK YOU, BOY, said the skull. WHAT IS YOUR NAME? ‘Uh,’ said Mort. ‘Mortimer . . . sir. They call me Mort.’ WHAT A COINCIDENCE, said the skull. HELP ME UP, PLEASE.”
Also it’s damn funny when Death is speaking with Mort’s father about taking him on as an apprentice. The whole exchange (just a few extracts) is hilarious:
“ I WAS OFFERING YOUR BOY A POSITION, said Death. I TRUST THAT MEETS WITH YOUR APPROVAL? ‘What was your job again?’ said Lezek, talking to a black-robed skeleton without showing even a flicker of surprise. I USHER SOULS INTO THE NEXT WORLD, said Death. ‘Ah,’ said Lezek, ‘of course, sorry, should have guessed from the clothes. Very necessary work, very steady. Established business?’ I HAVE BEEN GOING FOR SOME TIME, YES, said Death.”
“‘Where did you say your business was?’ said Lezek. ‘Is it far?’ NO FURTHER THAN THE THICKNESS OF A SHADOW, said Death. WHERE THE FIRST PRIMAL CALL WAS, THERE WAS I ALSO. WHERE MAN IS, THERE AM I. WHEN THE LAST LIFE CRAWLS UNDER FREEZING STARS, THERE WILL I BE.”
"‘He’s a good lad at heart,’ said Lezek. ‘A bit dreamy, that’s all. I suppose we were all young once.’ Death considered this. NO, he said, I DON’T THINK SO.”
Later, Death’s curry appreciation is also so funny:
"Death leaned over the saddle and looked down at the kingdoms of the world. I DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU, he said, BUT I COULD MURDER A CURRY.”
"‘What’s a curry?’ The blue fires flared deep in the eyes of Death. HAVE YOU EVER BITTEN A RED-HOT ICE CUBE? ‘No, sir,’ said Mort. CURRY’S LIKE THAT.”
I would suggest The Revelation Space series by Alastair Reynolds. One of my favourite scifi series. Others include the Hyperion series and the Dune series. I would also like to mention a series which is not that well-known but I enjoyed it: the suneater series.
Definitely second The Revelation Space series. Also enjoyed “Inhibitor Phase” which came out recently.
I never set any book reading goals with respect to number of books to read. My goal is always to enjoy reading the books as much as possible. Number of books read is of no consequence to me.
I’ll end up lying on the floor of the store room. No thank you for my butt hurting me.
Simple hot chocolate without any spices is my favourite hot cozy drink
Oh I hope there is more development in the future since friendica sounds promising.
Read. Study topics I don’t know about. Learn new skills and try out new experiences. Travel to different places I haven’t visited before.
