I’m using StreetComplete to contribute to OpenStreetmap almost daily.
Does that count?
As far as I know i2p doesn’t have a distributed file system. I think you can run Tahoe-LAFS over it, but it looks complex. Never tried it.
But if netflix is just a nice gui over S3, then a nice gui over freenet should be simple. Right? Not that I could do it, but I like the idea.
Freenet is a distributed file system. Imagine a useful front end to that where you could upload your content and also subscribe to other people or content. Could be awesome. Too bad I can’t code for shit.
With some filters so that you can specify file type, quality, etc…
Then I could share my aquarium videos with the world, anonymously and easily.
There’s no working windows version of iMule is there? I haven’t found it if there is.
That’s… not great.
Still, zlatinb doesn’t seem to be involved anymore, and the software is still interesting.
Also included in the zip file I think. I took it all from the torrent.
Edit: Apparently not in the zip, just checked, but @kivullallo provided the link to the source.
PSA that i2p exists and supports anonymous Torrents.
Have a look at !i2p@lemmy.world
A gentle reminder that you can also do anonymous torrenting in i2p.
Geti2p.net I believe is the site to visit.
I absolutely would, or my wife would be very annoyed with me.
Also I’d have a stern talk with said 20- something as (s)he’d have no business in my bed in the first place.
Compiled my own kernel way back when and decided that network support wasn’t really needed, on a computer locked away in a room to which I didn’t have access, late one evening with nobody else around to unlock it.
Also deleting the whole /boot folder to see if I could fix it.
There’s an i2p community here on lemmy. Click my username for a link.
Apparently Ian and “Locutus” decided that they wanted the Freenet name, so now Locutus is Freenet and Freenet is Hyphanet. I’m sure this won’t confuse anyone.
I feel that there’s so much potential in Freenet that’s not being utilized. Or “Hyphanet” as it’s now called. It could be one of the coolest things ever, but as it is I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go there because of the default FN experience.
I usually find what I need, but if I don’t then that’s not a big deal.
Ideally, the future of file sharing would involve a fully/natively integrated anonymous network with content-addressable distributed filesystem.
Isn’t this just Freenet?
I’d love that.
Depends on your definition of very slow. I’m currently getting 1MBps which is alright.
