Most common maybe. I feel most windows users aren’t actively choosing to use windows. It’s just what they are left with.

People usually choose to use Linux or Mac. As Linux is rarely preinstalled or like Mac more expensive (when it comes preinstalled) than the windows devices for sale. I’m not convinced given a fair shake, windows would have the market share it does.

Servers have highly informed people making decisions about their operating systems. When weighing the options about uptime, security, etc they rarely choose windows. Cost isn’t really a factor relative to the price and operation of the server.

This is a common misconception of the placebo effect. The placebo effect is a measurement issue, not an actual benefit.

Tests are corrupted by using the reposnes and judgement of humans. People will say they had some sort of benefit because of expectations, poor recollection and politeness. It doesn’t mean a benefit was gained. A placebo group allows researchers to quantify how much the placebo effect has on the data they gathered, they can then see if the experiment they did had any effect. Placebo is literally our definition of zero effect.

Anyone telling you placebo is a good thing is wrong, misinformed or deliberately misleading you. In many countries it is illegal for doctors to prescribe ‘placebo treatments’. They will still recommend such things to their patients - not because they work but because they get the patient out the door and less likely to come bother them again.

Nintendo’s one of the few game businesses you can be confident that their E content is okay for children. Many other businesses are using in game advertising, inappropriate content and predatory gambling in game purchases.

So it’s of great value to Nintendo to control their content and IP. Because the impression of children and parents are important to them.

Because children are exposed and familiar with Nintendo IP other people can (deliberately or not) use it to influence them. These children are unlikely to understand this is parody or see the irony in it.

If Sony said the new Nintendo system playstation, Nintendo would lose trademark rights over this. Because a large business like valve is involved they can sue and are compelled to sue to retain their trademark.

The emulator that recently got taken down was because an organisation was developing and distributing it. Individuals that copy and share the source code themselves won’t get any threats from Nintendo because they don’t need to find and sue them. Nintendo had to sue these other businesses, to retain their trademark.

You also lose the trademarks you don’t defend. If Nintendo was found to knowingly not pursue those that infringe in their trademarks then they a court could allow someone else to use that trademark.

The SNP said Brexit would happen and England would make Boris Johnson prime minister. They were mocked by the media for both predictions.

The Unionists promised Scotland would receive more powers if they voted no. The day after the referendum David Cameron announced English votes for English laws. A policy that would remove Scottish MPs from the sovereign capabilities of Parliament.

This isn’t true at all. Since ww2 Scotland has voted Labour up until very recently. Every election the largest party in England formed the government. Scotland’s vote hasn’t mattered much. Scotland has never voted Tory, but they have by far spent the most time in government.

Scotland was full of Labour safe seats, so they did make up a big contingent of the Labour party. But Labour has lost all talent in Scotland. The SNPs success has caused Scottish Labour to churn through leaders till they accepted their fate of 2nd place - currently 3rd.

If you think hatred of the English is a factor in Scottish independence your badly informed. In Scotland the most intolerant people tend to be unionists, so intolerant they were told not to campaign against independence by the unionist parties.

As a noun or adjective it would be a derogatory term for gay men. As a verb most people would recognise it as disappeared in the UK. There plenty of other terms for the verb.

There is legitimate use cases for a zero hour contract. The vast majority don’t fit it.

If the zero hour contract minimum wage was £50 per hour, then it would be appropriate. This would still allow it to be useful to hire consultant, semi- retired experts and contractors and use PAYE, no additional companies, accountants etc. Very efficient and would only apply to employees with some power in the relationship with the business.

However, it’s used to exploit minimum or low wage staff. The company takes all the flexibility it offers and uses it to bully the employee into accepting the hours the business wants. They do this by treating to cut hours if the employee doesn’t agree. This makes it difficult to have multiple jobs to make up the hours.

Protestants came about at the same time printing and reading became more common. People came to understand the bible better. They found that their local priest or Catholic church wasn’t representing the bible very well. Some priests couldn’t read and were just making it up.

Catholics practice many things that go against the teachings in the bible. They worships false profits (saints, Mary, popes, etc). They practice religion with lots of ceremony and publicity. They also acted as gatekeepers to God, despite Jesus talking about having a personal relationship with God.

The Catholic church was caught out and many people were unhappy with it. So they left it in protest. Hence protestant being used to describe these new enlightenment era Christians.

A protestant would not think that leaving the Catholic church is abandoning God. They would have to see it as the right path to follow God. It’s not consistent for a protestant to say they follow the teachings of Christ and the Catholic church is Christian. Any protestant saying Catholics are Christian hasn’t put a great deal of thought into it. However, it would be appropriate for someone studying, categorising or discussing religions to call both Catholics and Protestant’s Christians.

There is also a long history of discrimination between Catholics and Protestants. Protestants country’s retained more of their own wealth and political decision making. Protestantism was more successful in places where literacy was higher. Both these factors lead to protestant countries being wealthier, more prosperous and lead to earlier and more successful industrialisation. This created the situation that many people were immigrants from Catholic countries to protestant ones. Like today, they faced discrimination. The religious difference of the incoming immigrants heightened the conflict. This also made it easier for people in both religions to see it as separate and different.

They would have to set it up before leaving. Or have someone in the household change their router settings to enable it and share the details with them.

If you ever look at local WiFi networks in most residential areas you will see 90%+ use the default router supplied by thier isp. Also using the default SSID and password printed on the router. Most wouldn’t even venture into the routers web page to change the settings. So the likelihood someone would configure this is low.

If you don’t already, change your default WiFi SSID and password. It makes it easier to share with visitors, you can use the same ones when you switch routers (saves reconfiguring all devices). It also removes the possiblity of your ISP leaking the SSID and password to anyone. If it’s been printed, then it isn’t encrypted when stored. Many ISPs have lost lots of customers data in breaches, many of which they resit making public.
