I think Sony just delisted Ghost of Tsushima from all countries where PSN isn’t available, even though it’s primarily a single player game that won’t require PSN.

So Sony is still on their bullshit, even though they conceded over Helldivers.

Unpopular opinion, but the extra “iss” is unnecessary for reading the word, and with this being a newspaper article they have limited headline space.

Clearly this is just efficient debloating of the article title.

So several smaller lemmy instances (like sopuli, ani.social, reddthat, etc) are having some serious slowdown issues right now and are having delayed federation with lemmy.world. From what I understand, the suspected cause is a kbin bug, where it’s glitching out and spamming the fediverse with infinitely repeating federation updates. Several lemmy instances have blocked kbin over it (including lemmy.world and sopuli), but it’s still causing issues and slowdowns.

There have been multiple attempts to reach the admin for kbin about it, but his developer accounts seemingly went dark 4 months ago (according to his commit history) and he’s not responding to any messages. Mbin has seemingly already patched it according to their resolved issues/pull requests, but it’s looking like kbin may have to be cut off from the rest if the fediverse unless the dev resurfaces.

My windows install started corrupting my hard drive every 1-2 weeks. Completely unrecoverable requiring a fresh install. I installed Linux to try to see if it was a hardware issue, and it worked fine without issues. Ending up just sticking to it. Couple years later I built a new PC, and tried windows again. I enjoyed having all my games work again (this was pre-proton so Linux gaming was hit or miss), but really hated the experience of using windows after being free from it for so long. Went back to Linux, and have been here ever since (about 10 years now). And thanks to valve/proton, I no longer feel like I’m giving anything up to use exclusively Linux.

Yeah, I don’t know why Firefox on Mobile gives me so many issues.

Its crazy that a fanless 15watt arm chip can run old games this wel! Compared to a pentium 4 thats is taking off.

It’s not fanless, but the Steam Deck APU also has a 15w max (total power consumption can climb up to ~25w after fans/screen/etc). Overall really impressive what can be run these days on so little power.

I really loved Solus back when it was in more active development, I’m glad to see it coming back.

According to the original Riot post, 1 in 15 games has a cheater, and in some regions it’s 1 in 5 games.

But valorant has the same kernel anticheat, and has rampant cheating. So I don’t think the new anticheat will actually help.

To be fair, I think the backdoors they’re referring to would be ones meant to allow Linux users to play.

But with Riot being owned by a Chinese company, I suspect there are plenty of backdoors to go around.

It may be ready, I haven’t tried their latest version. Most of the functionality was there, but it had some rough spots. I’ve been meaning to go back and try daily driving it again.

I think that’s what BlendOS is working towards. You might keep an eye on them.

Sounds good, especially if Ubuntu, Fedora, and other distros have already made this change. Are there any downsides to raising this value?

The year is 2051. The Witcher 9 live service game is coming out this year, and it’s supposed to be the industry’s first A x 10^14 game, but Ubisoft has shattered expectations by announcing that their next Assassins Creed will be A x 10^16, skipping an entire generation of A’s.

I’ve taken in a number of cats, it takes awhile for the older cats to accept new cats, but they’ve always gotten over it. The only exception is I had one singular kitten who could not get along with the other cats and had to be re-homed.

I’m willing to forgive ffmpeg because it can do an insane amount of stuff. It’s nice to know whenever I have a weird media related need (converting a file, cropping and compressing a video for discord, etc) that I already have a tool capable of doing it on my machine. Just takes a quick search for the command and I’m ready to go.

To be honest, I kept a text file of all my most common ffmpeg commands in my video folder for quick reference.

For anyone who doesn’t know, Polybius is an urban legend about a government experiment in the form of an arcade game set up in Portland.

Polybius is a fictitious 1981 arcade game from an urban legend. The legend describes the game as part of a government-run crowdsourced psychology experiment based in Portland, Oregon. Gameplay supposedly produced intense psychoactive and addictive effects in the player. These few publicly staged arcade machines were said to have been visited periodically by men in black for the purpose of data-mining the machines and analyzing these effects. Supposedly, all of these Polybius arcade machines then disappeared from the arcade market.

It’s a fun tale though, and there are some good articles and video essays on it.

I love physical books, but ebooks are so convenient. Always having a book, being able to comfortably read one handed, and being able to read in the dark after my wife goes to sleep are all things that significantly increase how often I can read.
