  • unlike nearly every other company in existence in any industry, they actually earned their position. It would be nice if they gave a bigger cut to devs, sure, but literally nothing is stopping devs from going on multiple platforms. I am also more forgiving of that due to their contributions to linux gaming, especially now that windows is continuing to go bonkers even after they reached the point that I could no longer tolerate it.

I only buy off steam, gog, and itch.io for some indie stuff as the rest are a terrible experience. And there’s the other part, other platforms need to be good for anyone to want to use them, because nobody will leave steam for a worse platform unless gabe dies and the supposed fuckery prevention plan fails and they go corporate and get an EA approved ceo. Even then it would likely be a slow burn like twitter and reddit. gog and itch have the minimalist store covered so even that is a hurdle. Maybe epic execs can pull themselves up by their bootstraps and figure out how not to suck, then people might use them for more than just hoarding free games they will likely never play.

  • the acids used in brewery for sanitization can wreck metals too. we had some plated brass fittings that got mixed in with the stainless stuff and the acid water turned green and the brass was exposed. some other formerly shiny parts turned grey and chalky and very soft. Some places love their brass but I just want everything to be stainless so I can leave it soaking in sani for as lonng as I’m too lazy to deal with it which is forever.

  • most people I have dealt with can’t even get on the internet if the browser icon moves a few spaces over. regular settinngs menus are out of the question for them, let alone an extra program for settings with names that don’t reflect their purpose in a laymans eyes. On the other hand I have had pretty decent success telling people to press win+x, release the keys, press a or whatever for cmd/powershell then copy paste a one liner, assuming a cmd/powershell command is available for the issue. or making a registry file they can double click.

  • I left a lot out but I think overall it still counts. this formerly middle of nowhere town grew too big due to high end highrise projects and everyone wanted to live in lovely little forest tower with a view but making the car and bike infrastructure able to support the additional homes isn’t profitable so getting in and out is bottlenecked massively, local businesses have been replaced by more housing projects so you have to go farther to get food and stuff.

so basically once upon a time nothing was here and you had to drive out far to get anything. then the town picked up over several decades and you didnt have to go anywhere because everything was there. then they got rid of everything and brought in more people so you have to drive again but now in traffic, all to line the pockets of mainly two companies’ execs.

  • no, one drive is Microsoft’s thing that they keep bringing back each update that you have to remove again so you don’t have a permanent notification.

joking aside though, what? I have 2 nvme, 1 sata ssd, and 5 spinning drives on bazzite.

edit: I see you mean the home directories on separate drives, which I have indeed not tested, nor have I used that setup in about a decade now so I dont know what issues could come up.
