I heard rumors that the Indian government switched to some specific Unix like that has accounted for a lot of that, but I have zero experience on the matter aside from someone saying that could be it.

When you pirate on Linux it’s up to you to make sure you are running it in a compatible environment. Checking protonDB and other sources may show you some workarounds you will need. The other way to do this is to open the game in a terminal, try to run it, look for errors or missing .so files or other things in the terminal output, and use that as a starting point to figure out where you need to go to get it configured the rest of the way.
Lutris scripts and the like do not use pirated sources on purpose, so you are very much on your own with it.
So, do they have these tasks performed every hour and redundant elsewhere or was this just bad planning a la “write the directions to make a PB&J” homework assignment?
I grew up on RuneScape and BBC programming, so I’ve been exposed to both formats for a long time (really fucked me up in spelling). I couldn’t say why August 9th sounds more natural, but it’s probably because most irl folks around me use it. The 9th of August didn’t sound bad, just more artificial, and it’s probably because my exposure to that spoken out was mostly media and pop culture.
I keep a place for everything, and everything in its place. My download folder is cleaned regularly, usually right when I download the file I move it to it’s appropriate place. Sometimes it still fills up with old installers or what have you, if it is a hard to get installer like for old devices, old games, or niche hardware I store it in a safe place on my encrypted cloud, otherwise if it is new software or frequently updated I just delete it after I’m done.
If it’s a file I want sorted by date the top is good. If I am talking about a date and spelling it out August the 9th of 2023 makes the most sense and seems natural, and if it’s a personal memo or date label on food I just use 08/09 with the zeros so I know it isn’t a fraction unless it’s frozen or shelf stable for long term storage where the year would be useful to know at which point it becomes 8/9/23
I thought everybody used different date formats based on need.
They simplify it so much it becomes less practical.
Yeah. My habit and instinct as someone who understands file trees is to open somewhere like Downloads then use the go up one directory button to home, but windows doesn’t want to do that, it basically acts as a back button in that instance and dumps you back to the recents window.
I feel like I’ll never have the perfect setup because I’m too opinionated to want to deal with windows, and have too many niche games and software that were coded like shit to run well in wine or proton (like Kingdom Hearts 1+2 on PC that switches renderer for video cutscenes and break the compatibility layer. Who wants to play a Disney JRPG without the cutscenes and videos?).
The one that bugs me is that they don’t have a “Home” link by default on the explorer sidebar. When I first install windows I add it, but when I have to help someone else for some reason and have to go to the home directory the easiest way to do it is to go through “This PC”>C:>Users>[Name] then try to find what they are looking for. Why not just open that location at default instead of the nebulous “everything you’ve ever used or interacted with”? Half the time it’s full of garbage or one off files they have no interest in reviewing but are too afraid to delete.
Better yet, why not auto sort web downloads based on file extensions to their relevant home folder? I had that setup on a Linux box for a minute and I legit miss it.
I have an iPhone 12 mini and my only complaint is that the folks who create UI or content have zero interest in making sure it all actually looks right on “such a tiny screen”.
Everyone (over maybe 19) who sees it in person likes how small it is because they can use the whole screen with one hand, or fit it in their tiny femme pockets. Some younger people ask how I could watch a movie on it but I have the feeling they only think that way because they’ve never had their own living space as an adult. I have zero interest in craning my neck down at my phone or holding my phone up to my eyes for 2 hours or more when I have a better more comfortable TV and Computer for that purpose.
The majority of the population in the states resides in metropolitan areas. I am one of them. There are no gravel parking lots. The closest we could come is breaking up the sidewalk antifa style 😉
“Shoes” is a really funny spelling of “Stones”
Edit: Got curious, and in my area there aren’t many rocks or stones, so you would have to buy them. They come in bulk between 2 and 3 inches in size at about a dollar a pound. For thirty pounds. Pennies take between 145 and 181 to make a pound depending on the materials of the penny. The pro to coins would be that you didn’t need to buy extra to maintain a precise weight per inflated sex doll, and they could be balanced easily on both feet for weight, where as with stones you would need to make sure you are well balanced for every doll and for every foot. Assuming you could instantly sort them all into evenly weighed piles you would still likely have stones left over, either as excess, or as outliers in our balancing that would be difficult for you to sell or get any other utility from.
In that case, yes, it’s cheaper to use coins because of the time sink and wastage that bulk stones would create, assuming an endless field of stones, the time spent sorting them into sizes and balancing them would cost more in labor than the pennies lost is worth.
Save the money and waste, just tape some coins to the bottoms of the feet. The bottom doesn’t have to be that much heavier.
I have no idea what this is from, but it reminds me of the “intimate fireside introductions” Trey Parker and Matt Stone did during early South Park.
I’m running Linux full time now, but I kinda wish I had kept that MacBook for asahi as a war driver .
I liked the arm MacBooks. I used to get 17 hours off a charge with moderate use web browsing, decoding YouTube videos, and driving a 4k display.
Ever since Catalina and 32x support dropped it became nearly impossible to tell someone with a straight face you could game in a macOS environment. I used to love flaming pc and Xbox gamers with the knowledge that Halo was originally developed to be a Mac exclusive, and loved pointing out the long list of good ports for the Mac like Fable: the Lost Chapters, Spore, Warcraft, Call of Duty, etc.
I had limited run CDs that spent their life temperature controlled and out of sunlight and they still had parts of the data layer “rot” away to the point they aren’t listenable at all anymore.
After I found those I started getting records on vinyl instead.
