It is infringement if you’re sharing the files, but if you make a copy for yourself, then it’s considered fair use. See: Sony Corp. of America v. Universal City Studios, Inc.
Internet isn’t always available, such as in an airplane or someone might not want to give access to the Internet to their child but wants to give them video or audio on a tablet. They can legally copy the content and watch it later.
There are legal issues with software that is solely designed to bypass drm, but that only applies to the software creator, not the user.
That isn’t piracy. It’s time shifting, and it’s perfectly legal to do it.
Mine has hobby type classes from time to time where they teach you things like pottery or macrame. Good way to meet older women.
I had one that intentionally detected a VM and just gave a message that said “Hello :)” and wouldn’t load.
Thanks for making Lemmy!
There actually were quite a few issues in 2016 that legitimately could have caused him to win.
The prime minister has an axe to grind with Palestine because his own brother was killed in an operation ~50 years ago. He’s stated many times that he has no intention of any kind of peace and he’s only using a tragedy to take revenge. It’s no different than the u.s. going into Afghanistan after 9/11 and then using that as a foothold when they invaded Iraq under dubious circumstances. It’s completely indefensible.
There’s is pretty much one sketchy site for this stuff I can’t remember the name of it, but I think it requires a payment to access downloads. Almost all pirated car software comes from eastern Europe.
You can buy a decent spec Highlander for $40k.
There’s not going to be a huge difference between something like a Toyota and a Mercedes other than cost and reliability. You’re paying for the brand.
Cars. Expensive cars require more frequent and complicated maintenance and repairs than cheaper cars. They over engineer them on purpose in order to make it unreasonable to maintain them in the long run. They don’t want their brand sullied by old versions of their cars driven around by poor people.
Happy new year and thank you for hosting!
Shouldn’t you be paying the people who built your house royalties then?
I also open up my eastern/southern facing drapes/blinds in the morning to allow the sun to heat up the house through the windows for some free heat throughout the day.
My thermostat has a setting which allows for a greater temperature swing. I have it set at 2*. With the temperature set at 68f the heat refill not come on until the temperature reaches 66f. This causes the heat to run longer but less frequently, which is more efficient than running in short bursts. I also have a setting which runs the fan for a few minutes after the heat stops which scavenges the remaining heated air out of the air ducts.
Legally, you’re allowed to make copies of games that you own and use them in an emulator. You can download mods, play multiplayer across the Internet when servers get shut down and also take advantage of better hardware and get better resolution and framerates, then there are quality of life improvements like savestates.
