I trim my cat’s nails because they fight sometimes and I don’t want anyone getting hurt. Also because I want them to be able to make biscuits on me if they want to without feeling like I’m getting stabbed.

My problem isn’t that they are long. My problem is they are sharp .
The medieval ice age sounded miserable though
Yeah it being broken is definitely a first world problem, hence why it has stayed broken for 5 years.
The friggin ice maker on the fridge. Plus the drawers are falling apart and it’s only been 7 years.
Are they Kidde? I’ve had 3 photoelectric Kiddes that started failing and going off randomly. I’ve been slowly replacing all of mine.
The builder installed them. Occasionally walking through our neighbourhood we hear other people’s going off too.
That’s why I like my galaxy beats live buds. They don’t really sit in ear- mostly they sit just outside.
Because then they wouldn’t be able to tell you to return your seat to the upright position for landing.
Same to you, friend.
I used to feel the same way with mirrors and actually wanted to write into my will that all photos of me must be destroyed upon my death. The idea of being permanently recorded terrified me.
I think therapy really helped, since if anything my appearance has strayed further from my mental image. That’s not to say it’s the same for you. It’s a relief to me that I’m not the only one who has felt this way, and I hope that you find some relief from the feeling itself too.
I just learned about this, and think I have it too, to an extent. I’ve grown more comfortable as I move age and transform closer to the hag witch I was born to be.
It’s called a fear of being perceived, or scopophobia. Apparently it’s common with neurodivergence (though I personally wouldn’t consider myself neurodivergent- at least not enough to seek a diagnosis).
Never is a very long time my friend.
I try to treat everyone as though I might be the first drop of kindness they have seen in some time, and my mantra when I find it difficult is “be kindness”- as in, choose the kindest option available to me at the time.
THAT SAID, I would not call myself a nice person, and if I was asked this I would elaborate that I try to be kind. I’ve known a handful of people who call themselves nice and I’ve been disappointed in their lack of patience and grace for others. Nice people don’t need to say they’re nice.
Snap my fingers. That or whistle.
Ahhh this is how I set up my farm every time too!!
I see you like narrative-driven games. Have you played Detroit : become human? It scratched the itch for me when I ran out of life is strange
There’s precedent though. Alcohol and tobacco have significant restrictions on marketing material. I would argue that firearms should fall into the same category.
My impression was the same- eye roll at the “videogames cause violence” argument that’s been beaten to death, but I actually think they may have a point when it comes to marketing.
Sadly, I also think that COD is a military recruitment strategy (Boy Boy did a video breaking down the way the American recruiters use COD to capture a certain demographic) so I don’t think this lawsuit will go anywhere. Thought-provoking though.
But what about cheese?! /s
I wish there was a shitty bird nests community on the fediverse you could crosspost that too. Talk about low effort.
That’s so good. My cats have similar dynamics. The big one, as we call her (despite weighing about 9 lbs), allows me to clip her nails in exchange for 1 (one) kiss upon her forehead per claw.
The small one (5 lbs) needs treats and breaks but puts up with it and me.
