Whaaat what is that it’s so cool
Whaaat what is that it’s so cool
Laptops, cuz I like to travel a lot and…4 years later now, I can still play the new games or go back to the old ones whenever I want to.
It’s very convenient.
If I was in one place, I’d probably get a PC just cuz it’s usually cheaper for the same hardware.
But I love traveling and I don’t love extra possessions! And I love playing games now and then.
So many good books spring to mind.
Maybe my favorite because of its simplicity is the simple solar cabin:

His book tells you in detail how to build the cabin start to finish: simple solar homesteading by lamar alexander
I can’t remember which straw bale house book is the best, but I’ve never met one I didn’t like.
Larry angell’s sweat equity is a good book.
I haven’t read earthship specific books, but underground house books are also always an amazing read. Super low cost/footprint, as large as you want, easy to build, stable, temp-consistent
Okay,I looked it up, The one I read that I really enjoyed was the $50 and up underground house book by mike oehler
Awesome, thanks, I’ll check it out
Really? I actually don’t know his history. Was Martian his first one or just his breakout hit? Are all of his later novels more character driven like Hail Mary project?
I like realistic science fiction a lot, but I need some more characterization and plots to really get into it like I did with the Hail Mary project.
If anyone stumbles on this thread, check out the mote in god’s eye for some amazing characterization and hard science fiction.
Okay, awesome. Thank you, I’m definitely interested
That’s kind of what gave rise to this question. Plays are so succinct and plotted accurate and characterization I was wondering what sort of novels also had that kind of accuracy.
But I haven’t read many plays, regardless of the fact that I usually enjoy them for exactly the reason I’m asking.
So yeah, I’ll definitely read some more plays, but I’m definitely going to check out some of these novels people are suggesting as well
I’d like to add The Hail Mary Project by Weir as I recommended The Martian to a friend looking for sci-fi but he couldn’t get into it because it’s a little harder on the science and less on character development, although I personally agree it’s a great recommendation for immersive writing.
The Hail Mary Project might have more immediate emotional character connection if the Martian feels a little dry.
Okay, cool thanks.
I read shogun a couple years ago, I wouldn’t mind reading something by him that only takes 20 minutes.
A day is good, and I love that title.
I didn’t have a hard and fast timeline going in deliberately, i’m more interested in all of your recommendations.
I’ll definitely be looking into that, thanks.
I read his famous series. At least a few of them. They did read easy
Cool, thanks, that’s the second dalloway rec, it’s definitely on the list
Should I read the first four books to catch up to those events?
Thanks, definitely worth looking into
Great, thanks
Plenty of good plays I need to catch up on anyhow
I’ll look into the unity of time, thanks
Thanks, fidget does sound deeply annoying
Seems on point, thanks
Cool dive, and I agree that winamp is rad.
