  • You will become disabled in some way (or you will die). Breathing still comfortably makes you 6 figures and you could rely on it until you die.

With that said, if you went the step option and put the extra money into investments, you’d be ahead even if you become disabled, assuming it happens long enough from now.

  • Not exactly a rebuttal, more of an addendum:

Artists can seek personal fulfillment, which may indirectly contribute something of value for society, or they can directly contribute value to society by creating art for others. If this value is greater than or equal to that which is required to sustain them, then exploitation is not inherently necessary.

  • We would not be about to store data. Any changes to digital (or analogue) data would be reverted. So even if we all collectively try to ignore the fact that time is repeating and live as normally as possible, we can’t have a society that keeps track of things in anything other than human memory. Advanced accounting, modern engineering, and scientific research would be impossible.

Somebody mentioned that the scenario doesn’t make sense because of time zones. Consider this scenario: Things are only reset locally at midnight. If you pass something across a time zone boundary, it doesn’t get reset until midnight in the new time zone. You could theoretically carry forward information or important objects indefinitely if you swap them before midnight in your time zone and then swap them back before midnight in the holding time zone. Things for which this cannot be done for cannot be preserved from being reset.

  • In an argument, never use “you”. No accusations. Keep a calm, relaxed tone of voice. Even if they don’t concede, they will eventually apologize and reconsider their position, but it may take a while after the conversation ended.

“I told you you shouldn’t have bought that.”

“I didn’t think that purchase was necessary.”

    “You upset me.”

“I was made to feel upset.”

  • Exactly. I, an everyday normal person just like you, think that murdering CEOs is bad. I am definitely not saying that because I am a CEO of a health insurance company. It is important that health insurance CEOs be spared, and not at all for personal reasons! We- i mean they deserve to live. This is an opinion that all normal everyday people - of which I certainly am one myself - should share.
