Truely a nice one. The community around it is quite cool as well.

I can relate to the guy that had to put that number in. Prolly went along the lines of « can we get some budget to identify our various processing activities and what processors are involved ? »… to what management said « lol no just put the overall numbers in ». And the guy included the kitchen company in there because fuck it.
I’m part of local equivalent but it never occurred to me that it would fit in this philosophy :)
Ha well I had starting a garden on my todo for this year. Probably in buckets this time so that I can actually eat something I grow (the last 3 attempts generally fed the local wildlife…).
I have posted several times on local groups for items available for donation but with very little results so far. After a while I donate to a local non-profit that organises reuse.
So garden it is for a first step :)
Is there a guide somewhere on how to start on self / community sufficiency ? I love the principles but it’s overwhelming to start and obtain results for me.
Haaaa yeah the kindle. Both loved and hated in my case. Love the form factor, allowing me to indulge in new books. Hate it because I don’t get new physical books anymore. Not that I have any room left for books; that’s the reason I bought the kindle in the first place…
As long as no sourcerer drops by :)

Amongst all my hobbies (am kind of a serial hobbyist…) I think fishing is the one that turns out the most expensive compared to my initial assumption.
Started with trout fishing into fly fishing the lure then carp… daaamn now I’m looking into a bassboat or a kayak…
I’m angry at them for cancelling The Expense but even that wasn’t enough to make me cancel prime 😅
Yeah I’m not saying there isn’t a good dose of enshittyfication but a lot / most of the smaller players are shitty altogether. Exception being Coolblue here in Belgium which has yet to fail me smaller shops are either price gouging or taking 2 damn weeks to process an order.
With Amazon at the very least I can watch Prime when I’m angry at their failures …
For me what drives me to Amazon is their logistics (1-2 days delivery, free delivery), their no-bullshit assurance and the gigantic inventory. 3rd can certainly be reached with a decentralised alternative. 2nd maybe even though rogue actors could hop instances and trust building is I guess challenging with an open model and 1st isn’t going to happen.
Fishing. It’s outside, you get to meet interesting persons, there is a collection side in it and you can reach modest goals which is doing a lot of good.
Not so long ago we had video broadcasts, akin to radio, which was called « television » I think…. Yet it was generally not free either.
Those I’ll need to check especially the vst host. Nice :)
I slipped maybe twice by accident via google search results but that’s it. Until I need to get opinions to buy something it will be okay I guess.
Buying a house was / is still plenty expensive but a riverfront one? Riverfront is at least an order of magnitude more expensive. And insurances hait those since the last big floods in these parts and it shows in their premium.
We tend to forget that all of that is to support people. Tech shouldn’t be an end goal, merely one of the ways to achieve it. And not always the best one at that.
