I agree regarding soapboxing. I think the posts that barely hide the fact they’re looking for reactions or agreement rather than discussion are probably the most grating and least constructive use of this community.
However, I think it remains to be seen if the community believes it’s something that needs to be addressed, and if so, if the mods are even conducive to changes. I do see the sidebar states “loosely moderated”. I am open to the possibility that I’m just being uptight and may just need to move on 😆
From the sidebar:
If your post meets the following criteria, it’s welcome here!
- Open-ended question
- Not offensive: at this point, we do not have the bandwidth to moderate overtly political discussions. Assume best intent and be excellent to each other.
- Not regarding using or support for Lemmy: context, see the list of support communities and tools for finding communities below
- Not ad nauseam inducing: please make sure it is a question that would be new to most members
So… how is this an open ended question/topic for discussion?
The Mind Electric by Miracle Musical.
It starts off going backwards then it plays forwards and I find it absolutely mesmerizing
So many great quotes from that last link
They played to a crowd of about 30 people and were the only English-speaking band on the bill. Flansburgh: “We thought it would be a hippie gathering kind of thing, but it was actually a meeting of Sandinistas.”
The show was free, and ran from 12pm to 5pm. It was one of the hottest days of the year in New York City. The band’s next show took place seven months later, in the middle of a heavy snowstorm.
I love how cheerful TMBG can make just about anything sound, regardless of- or maybe BECAUSE of subject matter. Except for them, I wouldn’t expect someone singing something like “I destroyed the bond of friendship and respect Between the only people left who’d even look me in the eye” to make me wanna dance

I’m at the Taco Bell
I’m at the combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell
I agree on Red Faction: Guerilla, it shows its age with a lot of bland empty spaces and rudimentary models, but the destruction is still a ton of fun
I’m reminded of a classic greentext.

Spindrift has a stronger flavor than stuff like la croix, Waterloo, polar, etc. Spindrift has a bit of fruit juice in it, and has a few calories (I think 5-10?)
I don’t want to go
My anecdotal experience- update looks and works great on my original steam deck. Of course, my limited experience doesn’t make it a good patch!
I believe that’s the same source as Pluto tv, if not, Pluto tv also has those channels
I’m hesitant to link back to reddit, but I’m not sure there’s any community with quite the same amount of engagement/content yet. They have rules against number of views/plays to try to keep posts about lesser known stuff.

The few things I liked about siriusXM when I had a subscription were alt nation (except Madison… ugh) and XMU. The DJs occasionally had insight into their choices but you can find the playlists themselves here

I love the line “They should have sent a poet”
”A person who thinks all the time has nothing to think about except thoughts.” Alan Watts
I think it’s just a reminder of the pointlessness of overthinking. I find it poignant because I spend a lot of time lost in rumination, myself
gulp
