I think the worst thing about it is batman doesn’t actually solve/do much. I like that him being new/young means he isn’t infallible, but I would have liked him to have a win or two.
Still love the movie though.

I absolutely agree, felt like they didn’t know what kind of movie they wanted to make and just kinda threw whatever they could think of into it.
I don’t know why this was down voted, but you’re right. It’s not sold as an accompaniment to the books, so should stand on its own.
Having read the books though, I really enjoyed the movies. I do understand though that a lot of that enjoyment came from the background knowledge I got from the books.
Yeah, I loved my switch when I first got it, but have hardly touched it since I got my steamdeck.
Yeah, I’ve definitely seen it most used to describe people acting ridiculous.
I’ve used it before and it’s got it’s pros and cons. Ultimately the big thing is not all apps need to be the “killer app”. Some apps are pretty simple, so a one size fits all can be nice. It’s definitely not the same as developing natively, but for small teams/apps it’s not too bad.
I bought a cheap pair on Amazon for around $30 just to try the concept out. I actually use them primarily for gaming cause I play a lot of split screen/in the same room with people, so it let’s us talk while I can still hear.
Couple of notes:
Not OP, but to me it’s one where getting to the ending gives you the context/lense to reinterpret the earlier portions. Sorta like memento or fight club, where the ending recontextualizes the earlier scenes.
Has Been Heroes. It’s a rougelite where you have to control three heroes across three lanes of action. You have to juggle skills and lanes by rotating the heroes to time attacks and perks. It may be more that it went notices than reviewed poorly.
One that definitely was reviewed poorly that I loved though was Advent Rising. It’s a scifi 3rd person shooter with the story by Orson Scott Card. It ended up in legal trouble due to a botched prize they did on release. Worst part is it ends on a cliff hanger and they never made the sequel or released the comics that were supposed to add to the story.
I had the same exact thought the first time I saw her. They look surprisingly similar.
Yes, and most likely more of a paradigm shift. The way deep learning models work is largely around static statistical models. The main issue here isn’t the statistical side, but the static nature. For AGI this is a significant hurdle because as the world evolves, or simply these models run into new circumstances, the models will fail.
Its largely the reason why autonomous vehicles have sorta hit a standstill. It’s the last 1% (what if an intersection is out, what if the road is poorly maintained, etc.) that are so hard for these models as they require “thought” and not just input/output.
LLMs have shown that large quantities of data seem to approach some sort of generalized knowledge, but researchers don’t necessarily agree on that https://arxiv.org/abs/2206.07682. So if we can’t get to more emergent abilities, it’s unlikely AGI is on the way. But as you said, combining and interweaving these systems may get something close.
It’s not that machine learning isn’t making progress, it’s just many people speculate that AGI will require a different way of looking at AI. Deep Learning, while powerful, doesn’t seem like it can be adapted to something that would resemble AGI.
Splendor is great. They had (maybe you can find the apk online) an android app that was great to kill some time.
Do you work in a technical role? I’ve dabbled in using AI to help out when working on projects, but I would say it’s hit or miss on actually helping, as in sometimes it helps me move a bit faster and sometimes it slows me down.
However, that’s just for the raw “let’s write some code part of the work”. Anything beyond that in my roles and responsibilities doesn’t really intersect with what AI can currently do, so I’m not sure where I would get a 5-10x speed-up from.
Honestly I’m not sure if I’m taking a wrong approach or if everyone else is blowing things out of proportion.
I get your point. I don’t know about OP, but I hadn’t seen a similar thread, but I usually browse all so easily miss posts for specific communities.
Also, I’ve found search on Lemmy hit or miss. The federation aspect of everything makes search sometimes difficult or confusing. For example, what community would most likely have already provided an ELI5 post and how would it have been phrased?
Not OP, but the point of asking for an ELI5 is that sometimes you don’t even know where to start. For example I clicked the link you provided and only have more questions as I don’t really know what people mean by display servers, etc.
Sure I could look everything up and try to understand, but the hope is someone in the community might provide a better or faster summary than what can currently be found online.
Oddly enough I think that actually adds to the problem. Because there are so many Unix-like OSs and each is slightly to significantly different, the solution to a problem on one may or may not work on another.
I liken it to SQL, having worked with many different sql dialects, I can never recall what functions are supported by one versus another. However, I don’t run into that problem with Mongo, cause it’s so different.
There are sites like this (https://www.whatismyip.net/tools/torrent-ip-checker/index.php?hash=1b0ed881214381f342f844fd640a3f495c6be898) that let you download a torrent. When you run the torrent in the client the site tells you the IP of your torrent client. Based on that info you can tell if it’s running through the VPN or not.
The bleakening is my favorite Bob’s Burger Christmas episode. Twinkly Lights has become one of my favorite Christmas songs.
He did do a great job with what they gave him. He’s the only reason the film is bearable, and would have loved to see a more serious and earnest take on that movie.
