I judge people on plenty of things that are legal. You probably do it too

But did actually anyone actually pirate your music? Like is your music on a torrent indexer or shared on a site specific to music?
I have heard from friends that they got banned for using adblockers on free Spotify.
My account got deactivated after doing that (firefox+ublock). It was really sneaky because my password just stopped working. My account was reactivated by contacting the support and they never told me the reason why my account got deactivated.
You seem to have really high standards around who you trust and in the same moment you call Telegram secure. I feel like you should atleast use the same amount of scepticism for Telegram that you use for Signal.
This might not be relevant because you have other reasons not to use Signal, but you can get android signal directly from their website and via aurora store (on fdroid)
Just use Signal if you want an easy, relatively privacy friendly and secure messenger.
Telegram hands over data to goverments, is infested with spammers and scammers and its encryption is not end to end for group chat which lets Telegram access those chats.
Edit: Telegram is great for lots of things like big groups, communities, piracy, drugs etc but its just not the place where you should expect secure communication.
On other platforms like Twitter and Mastodon the block functionality is pretty helpful. Using block lists improves the experience of those that get most often targeted tremendously.
Good bot
I dont really want to change peoples minds about voting, but I can see how the community might attract especially those that want to do that.
To inspire action, I usually post in !inperson@slrpnk.net and all the anarchism & anarchism related communities.
I dont remember the source for that, but in the years before the spanish civil war, many anarchist organizations called for not voting. But in the final election, when fascists where really close to winning, they actually called their comrades to vote and the broader left won by a slim margin.
I just want to tell that story to show that there are historical precedents for anarchists to participate in an election.
Tbh I did not check because those community are not that interesting to me and I just saw 2Xc sometimes in my local timeline.
I know the trans femme community can count on the moderation of the blahaj admins, but from the top of my head I dont know of any community thats a general “lady-centric discussion community”. I hope to find that though.
I would like to know how you feel about the !notvoting@slrpnk.net community and if you think it has a place on slrpnk.net. This has also been a topic in the moderators chat on movim.srpnk.net for a bit.
Discussions around voting and US politics in general gets pretty heated. Even on slrpnk.net where I usually expect good faith exchanges, I had a few situations where the hostility was really noticeable. So please try to be understanding and kind to each other.
I made the community about not voting. That can include anti voting sentiments (I understand that as “voting is bad”), but also aims at those just not wanting to participate and those not able to participate. I can see how this distinction might not make sense for everybody, so feel free to ask for more clarification :)
I don’t want to create unnecessary divisions or drama on slrpnk.net or with other instances, so I am definitely fine with shutting !notvoting@slrpnk.net down if it constantly leads to that. I can see how !notvoting@slrpnk.net showing up on the local feed can be annoying to some and might result in people commenting on those posts to voice their discontent with the community. I appeal to you to focus on the positions and goals we have in common instead of the differences. Because I believe that will result in a way better experience on slrpnk.net for all of us.
already assumed Lemmy was predominantly male but I wonder just how skewed it is?
Lemmy.ca did a survey that gives us a glimpse into that.
87% reporting as male gender, 7% as female and 6% combined as non-binary, genderfluid, other, of the users who opted to answer the question.
Thanks to @Rentlar@lemmy.ca for mentioning that in a recent thread.
The currently unactive mods started a call for more mods. Maybe they never got to look through the applications and/or no one applied.
Tbh I think that 2xc should never be opened again after we close it. Instead we could redirect people to other communities that focus on womens issues, perspectives and that succeed in creating a welcoming enviroments for women. Additionally maybe provide helpful links and ressources for those that want to start their own vision of a community that center women. (i would be willing to contribute to that)
I am really happy to leave that name behind, hopefully for good.
One thing I would be interested in knowing is the amount of moderation being done and how it compares to half a year ago. Maybe other mods&admins can share their experience or maybe there are stats for that. For me, the amount of reports and needed moderation actions is way down. I would love to know if that’s a shared experience or if this is just related to less activity in the communities I moderate.
And tbh when I started using Lemmy, I did not expect to stick around for so long. I think this is thanks to lots of factors, but I would like to highlight the great experience I have with slrpnk.net as my home instance. <3
Where can I find a list of new features?
Okay I read about this on Wikipedia and literally 2 weeks later I see this. Thanks for teaching me graffiti history:
You might be able to ask someone who is not allowed to vote if they want to fill out your ballot when you vote via postal voting.
And honestly I think people care way to much about voting, there is still a year till the election and its already on their minds as if in one years time nothing mayor could happen. Like literally in the election year of 2020 there was probably the biggest social movement / uprising of recent US history. Who knows what happens 2024.
First and foremost, I like the spirit and sounds fun (I am probably banned tho)
I think banning people before they have the chance to show that they can follow community rules is not the way I would do it, but its also not something I deeply care about.
I also think on slrpnk.net you are restricted by the server rules, so you can be the most pleasant racist there is and would still break the server rules and thus get banned.
