I haven’t gone to reddit.com and browsed around since I left.
But one thing that HASN’T changed is I’ll search ddg for an answer to a random problem and the most helpful link is a reddit post, either from long ago or recently.
I also have this problem with tea but not coffee
Coffee. Tea gives me a stomachache. I love the flavor of tea but I never have the willpower to stop steeping it after however many minutes you’re supposed to steep it
Capitalists are always minmaxing …
This seems like not a problem if you turn it off and drain it during the summer. But imo the real LPT is leave the hot water heater on its normal setting and just try not to use the hot water, especially during the day
My basement has mold :(
Water is amazing
But, if the virus is already present in your system, cool and wet conditions can lower the effectiveness of your immune system. Tmyk
It would cool you a little as the cold water absorbs heat, but you’d have to wring and repeat as soon as it heats up, which might end up being often
Live in a dry climate. The evaporating water will cool the house. Doesn’t work if the air is already wet
Never take a hot shower. In fact turn off your water heater if you can. The goal is to avoid having hot water in your pipes heating the house
The worst part was the fatalism
I like the one where he wouldn’t eat his soup, and when he dies, his family leaves the soup on his grave
I guess bridge to terebinthia I read late enough that it wasn’t traumatizing, and the beautiful image of a room that lights up gold in the sunset stuck with me until today.
Otoh we got an audiobook with a picture of two kids smiling riding bicycles for the car ride on a trip to the beach one year, and like 30 minutes in, one of the kids died and that was awful.
Retro computing is a fun hobby though. I enjoy keeping the PC I built in 2006 running and out of the landfill
I’m a fan of Freedroid Classic, a FOSS remake of a commodore 64 game called “Paradroid”. You’re a robot on a deserted space ship full of other malfunctioning robots, and you have to hack / shoot all of them. You start out as the worst robot, but if you encounter a better one, you can hack it to take over its body – if it doesn’t kill you first.
Takes a few runs to get the hang of it, but it’s a lot of fun.
