That is a wonderfully destructive ending!

This has to do with encryption protocols. Offhand my assumption is either they are trying to be extra cautious as the rules are incredibly complex, or they have a different algorithm included by default that would be subject to those rules.
Antivirus would probably be clamav.
As for policy, selinux would be my first Google.
Software allow lists I’m only going to mention system wide since stopping user space installs or chroots would be your software detection tool that I would be clueless on. System wide I’d look at sudo where you can control exactly what root level commands different users/groups can run.
install Debian the way you want up through the apps you need. Then it off and use it as a clone to copy for all your setups as needed.
Brother does sell laser printers but they cost a good bit more. What media do they actually print? That would help a lot in trying to give advice.
What graphics card are you using? What driver is installed for it?
How do you have the USB’s plugged in for the headset and lighthouses?
I had this when it was using a cups generic driver on a cannon I think printer. Switching to the manufacturers drivers fixed the issue.
If you look at the supported platforms you kind of get an answer here. There’s support for the m68k Macintoshes and other similar ancient devices still.
I think the point is network appliances but it seems mainly used by hobbyists from what I’ve seen.
Have you tried booting from a live image? I’d try downloading something with a live option like Ubuntu to a flash drive, and then trying to mount the drive from that. Anecdotally I had massive issues with Manjaro a while back where it would “lose” access to entire usb bays on the motherboard that didn’t happen in Debian etc.
I would want a FreeBSD type of packaging system where system libraries and apps are different. Their binary packages are separated into quarterly and latest so you get a very stable OS but either Debian or arch style package updates.
There is a project looking to do this kind of, known as elks that has images for 80286 chips. I have no idea why you’d want to do that to yourself though.
Damn Small Linux became tiny core linux! it’s still something that’s fun to play around with
I had to use the script twice because I did something stupid the first time but honestly the worst case is you try again!
I honestly haven’t tried, but I have seen this gesture support in the AUR
I’m running arch on my Chromebook I followed the wiki for WiFi then ran the arch install command and set up xfce4. That worked with xbacklight and hot keys setup. I needed a script from mrchromebox to get the speakers working as well but everything else worked out of the box.
It’s 512GB of ssd cache plus 128GB of ram, so for now that’s been enough
Because every time I’m reminded the underlying OS exists it’s always something negative.
On windows: Forced restarts and updates that take over 5x as long as my Linux (or FreeBSD build), ui that constantly undoes what I customized, ads and preinstalled malware essentially like candy crush even on builds from Microsoft directly, worse performance with a much higher number of crashes under load on my current box, and no auto login/name any simple customization without screwing around with registry editor to name just the simple things. More advanced problems include no hypervisor built in to the home version, everything is pay to unlock features my Linux install does for free, no zfs software raid for storage safekeeping, most fixes when I do have errors involve googleing cryptic hex codes and being told to run fsck/chdsk as the only solution for often times hours of searching before finally finding the actual answer - not to mention most other fixes being to download a library/binary of the sketchiest sounding website ever that i can’t verify isn’t a virus.
On linux or even FreeBSD which took a bit to get installed to my liking i may have put work in up front but its like 3 hours at most of my time for 6+ years of stability and proper functioning to avoid all of the above plus no microsoft telemetry etc. I switched when i first tried Vista and even today every time i have to use Microsoft’s horrific excuse for an OS it is heartburn inducing.
