Maybe there should be a community that boosts all those smaller niche communities? I think that could help spread the traffic around lemmy

My partner’s name is also the name of a very famous (mostly to boomers) multi-grammy award winner. He works in finance and he’s gotten the Michael Bolton experience many, many, multiple times. He says its always super awkward, with really bad jokes or people thinking they’re being clever with quips like Are you related or Do you have a new album coming out? hurr durr. But he’s also never experienced anyone under 50 noticing his name, so its slowly happening less often

Nah, real goths are still around. We still listen to all the classics, and most of those genres are still alive and have newer albums. Some of the newish (or thriving) goth genres are: minimal synth, witch house, neofolk, dark jazz, dark trap, deathstep, electropunk/synth punk. We’re just lurking in the shadows, which is kinda an obvious place for us to be when you think about it 😉

Should I accuse you of following lemm.ee users around when you respond to ones comment? This is such a weird take… there are a ton of hexbear users, and this thread is literally about them. Why wouldn’t they post here? Why wouldn’t they respond to each other? To accuse every hexbear user of brigadeering seems a bit over-the-top to me when they are the actual subject matter being discussed. Nowhere in the original post does it say hexbear comments are unwanted.
