most games are not foss, and it makes sense.
(games are more like works of art ranter than software after all, so it just doesn’t matter)

that will prevent you from using any features that use gog galaxy stuff tho. achievements, updates, friends, networking etc
if you’re an audiophile you can get flacs and stuff (but tbh I’d rather store my music in opus, flac just seems like a waste of space)
it’s currently opt-in rather than opt-out, fully on-device and won’t work on devices with weak NPUs (or on any which completely lack it)
unless it changes in the future it’s not that bad at the moment tbh
there are simd accelerated json decoders
it’s for the official Office keyboard.
it comes wirh shortcuts to ms office stuff and was supposed to work without installing any software, so they bound them to an extremely long key combinations no one will trigger by accident and shipped the changes to all windows users.
also another fun fact: Ctrl + Alt + Shift + Win corresponds to the “Office” key, and hitting that combination will make Windows silently and automatically download and install the Microsoft/Office 365 App and launch it, even if it was previously removed
tbh i don’t think the theme in rhe screenshot is an improvement, all that excessive padding doesn’t look that great
I’d argue floating wms are more intuitive and some can still tile pretty well if you want that
administrator in windows != root, it’s more like user account in sudoers file (but without password auth) processes don’t start out with admin rights under administrator accounts on windows, they still need to request the user to elevate (unless uac is off)
I just treat polkit as “set it and forget” kind of thing and leave it on defaults, I’d rather spend my time on something more important
systemd is more of a set of products and software components branded under a single name rather than a single thing.
systemd itself is rather simple, as most other pieces systemd-* software, like systemd-boot, systemd-networkd and systemd-resolvd. these are usually more stable and less bloated than more popular alternatives
sudo is overkill for most users tbh
AOSP is licensed under Apache 2.0

there’s a mod piracy subreddit on reddit, you should probably check it out
my isp doesn’t assign me an ipv4 and i have a dynamic ipv6 prefix, I’m hosting stuff over ipv6 just fine with dynamic prefix (i even have a ipv4 proxy set up, but it doesn’t see much use), just need to update it like every week in dns records (automatically of course)
yah i forgor about that
but technically you can, but with a self signed certificate only (ehich are less secure; or by asking people to set up the dns manually)
with self signed certs you don’t lose encryption, but the client won’t be able to make sure that it’s connecting to your server specifically
yes, but most games aren’t.
there’s no reason to avoid good indie games just because they’re not foss, unless you’re a toxic fossbro or something
