Basically. I’m new to all of this and can’t get my head around the subscribers.
If I go to https://feddit.uk/c/unitedkingdom I see 1.76k subs.
If I go to that community via another instance I see a different number.
- If I go to the instance direct is that all subscribers from all instances (including itself)?
- If I go to the instance through another federated instance, is that the number of subs from that instance?
Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using an URL instead of its name, which doesn’t work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk
Yes and yes.
This is an often-asked question - and it’s more of a support question so actually belongs in !lemmy_support@lemmy.ml.
Subscriber numbers you see on the community page are local to that instance. I’m not sure if that’s by design or not, but it really should show global numbers not local ones. If you want to see global numbers look up the community on lemmyverse.net/communities
That particular community is unusual in that pretty much all of the subscribers are local to the feddit.uk instance. Most of the time subscribers are spread across many instances.
