  • I do own the game but sadly I could just never get into it, I have probably thousands of hours in the factorio but the building just isn’t satisfying ironically enough in satisfactory for me.

    Especially in the early game, it takes so much fucking longer to get to Coal Power than it should I am sick and tired of being ripped out of my flow of building the factory by needing to stop and go collect some goddamn leaves manually. Even when i finally get stable power, the unlocks are just tedious annoying uninteresting and everything is constantly trying to pull me out of just focusing on building.

    The building itself can get frustrating because uneven terrain and issues with SNAP placement can mean things don’t quite line up perfectly and you have to keep trying again. That’s easily moved past tho it didn’t bother me too much in Dyson Sphere program so I can work past it.

    There’s a lot of little things I can complain about but for whatever reason the overall gameplay just did not click with me like it did in other Factory games


  • They are amazing but at the end of the day they are still humans and they can make mistakes. In the YouTube video referenced one of the C devs is heavily against rust.

    Decided to go look for CVEs from code the guy manages (Ted Ts’o) I found these

    Do you see a pattern in the type of error here? It’s pretty much entirely memory related and right in the wheelhouse of something rust would just outright not allow short of just slapping everything into unsafe blocks.

    The Old Guard is not perfect, and they are acting as a barrier to new talent coming in. Sometimes change is good and I’m heavily in the camp that rust one of those times. Linus seems to agree as he allowed the code into the kernel which he would never do lightly or just because it’s fomo

    If we didn’t already have the perfect option that is bitwarden I would probably go for this. But there’s really no reason to switch away from bitwarden to this. It’s open source, gets regularly publicly audited, and nothing ever leaves your device unencrypted. So even if they had their data center broken into and all machines stolen physically I wouldn’t have to worry about my passwords




  • Your screenshot shows 20k spent. I’m assuming you mean after federal tax rebate. As for what numbers

    For example with a goal of about 20k spent This bundle gets you 12Kw of inverter output and 30Kwh of batteries for 11k. Then just grab two Of these solar panel pallets for 28Kw of panels. Or Alternatively go smaller with just one pallet and save a bit. Then ofc you will get the 30% federal tax credit on top of everything

    So far as i can see from your invoice you won’t have any battery storage, your inverter is less than 4k output. So for the same price you could get 3x the inverter capacity, actually have battery, meaning even during a complete blackout you would still be able to have power, and get 3x as much solar array. Or you could get a similarly sized system for a fraction of the price. EG4 also has a larger inverter than can do the metering if you want that so could trade the 2x pallets for 1x with backfeed inverter

    As for equipment i can’t recommend signature solar enough. I’ve had plenty of problems with the FedEx freight shipping but they’ve always been good about making sure everything is taken care of if there’s any damage without much fuss (always take pictures of even the smallest box damage on delivery)

    Now ofc in summer you will never use that much BUT you should be sizing your array to account for the winter months rather than solar. If you indeed want to go grid tie you could get one of their bundles with the larger 12k single unit as I’m pretty it can backfeed


  • Yeah it’s WAY WAY WAY easier if you DON’T grid tie. Off grid inverters with battery are the way to go. they are basically just a UPS on steroids they can take the grid as an input but they will never feed back into it. Meaning your power company need not be involved at all thankfully.

    Honestly you really don’t need to be all that familiar with the DC Systems either. There’s so many amazing resources out there that will literally hold your hand through the whole process. What kind of cut-offs you need to have, what type of Breakers and where. Pass that just don’t swap positive with negative and you’re basically good to go it’s a shockingly simple system which is why it’s so disgusting how much they charge to install it


  • So long as you understand that you’re paying out the ass for a company to do it. It’s actually very simple to do yourself, and if you’re willing to do it yourself for $20,000 you can get 20 KW of solar panels, 12 KW of inverter output and 32 KWh of battery storage from signature solar.

    It’s not difficult to do, it’s not difficult to do properly and to code and safely. The amount that these people charge for the labor is fucking asinine and wildly out of line with the difficulty of the work done.

    I have at this point installed three solar systems two for myself and one for a friend all of them have been inspected by Master electricians and passed and the only information I used was solar DIY Forum posts and YouTube videos








  • I’m still waiting for it to be up to par, I have jellyfin on the server and I check it maybe once a month with the latest version but it still fails miserably with my library.

    It’s a very clean high organized library managed by sonarr. All Files are in

    “series name (year) > Season xx > series name SxxExx (episode title)”

    format and yet it still just fails miserably at matching so much of my content (its a rather massive library) especially on anime. Half the time I have to manually match it, and I have to use the Japanese title in order to pull up the English metadata, because that makes sense.

    Playback also just… Fails for no reason on tons of my devices. It’s been getting better recently but until it’s on par with Plex I am not leaving sadly


  • There’s no such thing as flushable wet wipes. They might not clog your particular pipes but they do not break down in water. They can’t because then they wouldn’t be able to be wet. They contribute to massive clogs in the sewer systems that people have to go down and break up honestly it should be illegal to sell them
